Projects change, but they change in ways that aren’t always clear

The biggest lie in project delivery is that the plan is an accurate forecast of the future. Plans are useful, but they are not prophecy, despite what PowerPoint enthusiasts may claim.

This video explains two forms of change. Informational change happens when new knowledge emerges. Structural change happens when the decision environment itself shifts from stable to uncertain, or back again. Strong projects recognise both. Weak ones cling to yesterday’s assumptions while reality quietly changes the locks.
